How it works
With Shopify Payments you pay one card processing rate per online order, set by your plan. If you use another payment provider instead, Shopify adds a third-party transaction fee on top of whatever that provider charges.
The plan subscription is a monthly cost, not a per-order fee. Enter it with your monthly order count and the calculator spreads it across each order.

Frequently asked questions
What are Shopify's transaction fees?
With Shopify Payments, online card payments cost 2.9% + 30¢ on Basic, 2.7% + 30¢ on Grow and 2.5% + 30¢ on Advanced, according to Shopify's pricing page. There is no extra third-party transaction fee when you use Shopify Payments.
When does Shopify charge a third-party transaction fee?
When you accept payments through an external provider instead of Shopify Payments: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. It is not returned if you refund the order.
Are international cards more expensive on Shopify?
Yes. Shopify lists international cards at an extra 1% on top of the online rate. Switch on the international surcharge for cross-border orders.
Does this include the Shopify monthly plan price?
Enter your plan price as a monthly fixed cost and your monthly orders; the calculator allocates it per order.
