Amazon Seller Fee & Profit Calculator (US)
Enter your selling price and costs to see every Amazon fee, your net profit per unit, margin, ROI, break-even price and the price you need for a target margin. Referral fee rates by category come from Amazon's public pricing page. Enter your FBA fulfillment fee from Amazon's Revenue Calculator.
What the calculator assumes
- Referral fee = % of total sales price (item + shipping + gift wrap, excluding sales tax), with a $0.30 minimum for most categories.
- A product's fee category may differ from its storefront category. Check the "fee category guidelines" in Seller Central.
- Professional plan: $39.99/month. Enter it as a monthly fixed cost.
- FBA fulfillment and storage fees change every year and depend on size and weight, so enter your own numbers.
- Media categories (books, music, DVD...) carry an extra $1.80 closing fee, which is not modelled by default.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Amazon referral fee?
Most categories pay 15% of the total sales price (item price plus shipping and gift wrap, excluding sales tax), with a $0.30 minimum. Some categories are lower (for example 8% for Consumer Electronics and Computers, 12% for Automotive) and some are tiered (Clothing is 5%, 10% or 17% depending on price). Choose your category in the calculator.
Does this include FBA fees?
FBA fulfillment and storage fees depend on your product's size tier, weight and price, and Amazon updates them every year. Paste the per-unit figures from Amazon's Revenue Calculator into the FBA fields. Leave them at 0 if you ship the orders yourself (FBM).
Individual or Professional plan?
The Individual plan costs $0.99 per item sold. The Professional plan is $39.99 per month. Turn on the per-item fee for Individual, or enter $39.99 as a monthly fixed cost and your expected monthly orders for Professional.
What happens to fees when an order is refunded?
Amazon credits back the referral fee minus a refund administration fee (the lesser of $5 or 20% of the referral fee), so the calculator credits 80% of the referral fee on returned orders. You can change the return rate and the return costs.
How is the break-even price calculated?
The calculator searches for the lowest selling price at which net profit reaches zero, with all your other inputs unchanged. Tiered and minimum fees are included.
